SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA (April 10, 2016) – A female pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a DUI driver Saturday afternoon at the Santa Maria Town Center East parking lot, according to the Noozhawk. (map)
The accident happened at around 4:30 p.m.
Preliminary reports stated that the authorities received an emergency call requesting for help in the parking lot.
Upon arrival at the scene, they have located a female pedestrian trapped underneath a 2007 Toyota passenger vehicle, as mentioned in the article.
The respondents immediately transported the victim to Marian Regional Medical Center.
No immediate information was provided on the severity and condition of the victim.
Meanwhile, a 43-year-old Rene Michelle Castro was identified as the Toyota driver.
The Noozhawk published that Castro was arrested on felony DUI charges. And was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and illegal paraphernalia.
Investigators assigned to handle the case continue to look more closely into the gathered evidences before pronouncing closure.
