1 Killed, 9 Injured in Santa Monica Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
SANTA MONICA, CA (April 29, 2023) – A crash killed one person and injured several others on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.
According to the KTLA News and CBS Los Angeles, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on April 29 at around 3:10 p.m.
The incident happened when a Kia SUV was going north on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. At the same time, a Toyota sedan was traveling south.
Police said the Kia then tried to make a left turn into the Beach Lot Four North. In the process, the Toyota t-boned the SUV in the 1000 block of PCH, near the California Incline.
2 Cars Collide
The reports added that the Kia carried six adults and two small children while the sedan had two adult occupants. A passenger in the SUV sustained a major leg injury as a result of the collision.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed all 10 people involved in the accident to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood. Officials described most of the injuries suffered as minor.
Medical personnel confirmed that the seriously hurt passenger of the Kia soon died. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police forced the northbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Santa Monica crash is still under investigation.
