Santa Rosa crash Sebastopol Burbank
5 Injured in Santa Rosa Crash at Sebastopol Road and Burbank Avenue
SANTA ROSA, CA (September 3, 2021) – Several were injured after a car crash at Sebastopol Road and Burbank Avenue in Santa Rosa.
According to The Press Democrat and KRON 4 News, the accident took place on Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck on September 2 at around 8:20 p.m.
The incident began when a silver BMW sedan was going east on Sebastopol Road, east of Stony Point Road, in Santa Rosa. For an unknown reason, the sedan collided with another car.
Police said the driver of the BMW, a 16-year-old Santa Rosa boy, did not stop and fled the area. He accelerated to an estimated 60 to 70 miles per hour and then broadsided a black GMC pickup.
The truck was traveling west on Sebastopol Road and was making a left turn onto Burbank Avenue at the time. The GMC rolled over while the BMW swerved southeast, over the sidewalk and into a parking lot.
Teen Driver Flees Scene of Crash, Hits Another Car
Two occupants of the pickup, a male and a female, ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Paramedics took the male to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the BMW and his backseat passenger, a 15-year-old Santa Rosa girl, sustained serious injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Davis while the girl was flown to an Oakland hospital.
The front-seat passenger of the BMW, a 21-year-old Santa Rosa man, suffered critical injuries upon impact. Medical personnel rushed him to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in grave condition.
Officials did not release the names of the wounded parties. Meanwhile, police forced the area of Sebastopol Road and Burbank Avenue to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the Santa Rosa crash is still under investigation.
