2 Injured in Santa Rosa Crash on Highway 12 Near Melita Road

SANTA ROSA, CA (September 12, 2021) – Two were hospitalized after a head-on crash on Highway 12 near Melita Road in Santa Rosa.

According to The Press Democrat and CBS San Francisco, the accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol said an SUV and a pickup truck collided head-on in Santa Rosa. The two crashed for an unknown reason in the 6200 block of Highway 12 near Melita Road.

2 Cars Collide Head-On

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and thenextricated the woman driving the SUV from the wreckage. She sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

CHP added that the pickup truck then rolled onto its side upon impact. Its male driver survived with minor to moderate injuries.

Medical personnel soon took both patients to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officials did not release their names and condition at this time.

Meanwhile, officers forced Highway 12 near Melita Road to shut down for more than an hour following the wreck. The cause of the Santa Rosa crash is still under investigation.
