Santa Rosa Pedestrian Accident College and Mendocino Avenues Man Struck, Killed by SUV in Downtown Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (March  16 ,2022) — A fatal Santa Rosa pedestrian accident Wednesday morning happened at College Avenue and Mendocino Avenue in downtown.

A westbound driver in an SUV struck the pedestrian about 6 a.m. on March 16th as he walked in the intersection , the Press Democrat said.

Paramedics responded to the Santa Rosa intersection and located the injured man in his mid-50s, according to a Santa Rosa police spokesman. The man suffered major injuries and died at the scene. However, police did not immediately release his name.

Meanwhile, the driver in a Toyota RAV4 stopped and is cooperating with authorities.

The driver reportedly had a green light when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway, police said.

Investigators are piecing together evidence and witness statements, but they do not know whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Police do not suspect drunk or drugged driving was a factor. Police questioned the driver, but he was released without charges.

The investigation into the Santa Rosa pedestrian accident is ongoing.
