Man, 23, Killed in Bicycle Accident at Deer Lake Drive and La Tarriga Way
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 26, 2022) – Santiago Azryele McCrea, 23, of Sacramento, died in a collision with a garbage truck while riding a bicycle at Deer Lake Drive and La Tarriga Way in Sacramento.
The collision occurred about 8:43 a.m. on May 23rd, according to the The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News.
The traffic accident occurred on Monday morning when a Sacramento garbage truck struck the man riding a bike in the city’s residential neighborhood for an unknown reason.
Police said the vehicle struck Santiago Azryele McCrea near the intersection, just a few blocks west of Franklin Boulevard.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived in the Valley Hi and North Laguna area. They found the bicyclist down on the ground as a result of the accident.
Arriving paramedics soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner later released the victim’s name as Santiago Azryele McCrea.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the truck driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the cyclist.
The cause of the fatal Sacramento bicycle crash is still under investigation.
