Santos Alajenadro Jimenez-Cruz ID’d as Suspect in Lucerne Valley Fatal Hit-and-Run
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (October 1, 2021) – Authorities detained Santos Jimenez-Cruz after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Lucerne Valley.
The California Highway Patrol issued a no-bail arrest warrant for the 18-year-old man who killed three girls and critically injured another on June 5.
The incident began when Santos Alejandro Jimenez-Cruz was driving north on Camp Rock Road in Lucerne Valley. At the same time, the four girls were walking in the street.
For an unknown reason, his white 2002 Chevrolet Silverado struck the juveniles. The Victor Valley News wrote that the accident took place at about 10:25 p.m., north of Rabbit Springs Road.
3 Girls Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Crash
The suspect left three of the victims, aged 11, 13 and 12, lying on separate sides of the road. They died at the scene of the collision while the fourth juvenile, 14, sustained life-threatening injuries.
She ended up flown to the Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. The 14- and 12-year-old were in their wheelchairs while the other two were pushing them when they were hit.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that Santos Jimenez-Cruz and his passenger abandoned their car and fled on foot. They issued the warrant after two months for three counts of vehicular homicide.
