Sara Coffelt Victim in Highway 99 DUI Crash; Marissa Anguiano Arrested
DELHI (November 27, 2017) – A woman was injured in an alleged DUI crash on Highway 99 early Sunday morning, November 26, according to Merced Sun-Star.
The accident involving two vehicles was reported around 12:25 a.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 21-year-old Marissa Anguiano was driving a 2008 Acura TSX south on Highway 99 when she struck the back of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. The Delhi woman was reportedly traveling at speeds between 80 and 90 mph when the crash occurred.
The Tacoma driven by 34-year-old Visalia resident Sara Coffelt went off the road and rolled onto rolled the center median. The car ultimately landed in the northbound lane of the highway.
Coffelt was transported to Memorial Hospital with complaint of pain to her chest and hip. Officers described her injuries as possibly minor.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that Anguiano was believed to have been drunk driving at the time of the wreck. She was brought to Mercy Medical Center in Merced with unspecified injuries and was later released.
The suspect was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of drunken-driving causing injuries, a felony, and a misdemeanor allegation of driving while her license already had been suspended due to a prior drunken-driving conviction with a bail set at more than $200,000.
