LOS ANGELES, California (December 21, 2016) –– Sathina Raj Varma, 46, was killed early Monday morning when the car she was a passenger in was involved in a collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway near the transition to the 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 1:38 a.m. on Monday morning. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. She later died at the hospital, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner said.
The driver of the car she was riding in was also taken to a hospital with injuries.
Meanwhile police at the scene closed down a portion of the freeway to investigate the cause of the crash and determine liability.
