Pickup, Motorized Scooter Crash in University Heights
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 18, 2022) — A man riding a motorized scooter and a pickup truck collided Wednesday at Madison Avenue and Florida Street in the University Heights area of San Diego.
The 37-year-old man riding the scooter suffered injuries in the 4:55 p.m. collision on August 17th, according to ABC 10 News San Diego.
The San Diego Police Department reports the the scooter was heading westbound in a bicycle lane in the 1900 block of Madison Avenue. At the same time, a 57-year-old man driving a Ram 350 truck traveling was heading in the same direction.
The pickup truck driver allegedly made a right turn towards the west alley of the 4600 block of Florida Street.
Apparently, the pickup turned directly in front of the scooter rider and the man riding it hit the truck’s right front quarter panel.
Paramedics responded and transported the injured rider from the scooter to a hospital for an open compound fracture on his wrist.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver stopped and cooperated with police. There are no other injuries from the crash, police said.
Finally, the SDPD’s Traffic Division is heading up the investigation into the crash. Witnesses may call 858-495-7800.
