SCOTTS VALLEY (February 9, 2017)- Per KWBW News, two “Graniterock” workers who were part of a crew assisting with a recent mudslide were struck by a construction truck on Highway 17.
CHP officials responded to the scene which occurred at 12:07 precisely.
The driver of construction truck for unknown reasons failed to see the two men identified as Bobby Gill, 54, and Stephen Whittier, 34, before hitting them both simultaneously.
Per an update provided by KTVU News, Bobby Gill sadly died minutes after being struck while Whittier was trapped underneath the truck and eventually removed before being rushed to a Santa Clara Valley Med Center with serious injuries.
KWBW disclosed that both men were contracted workers brought in by CalTrans.
No further information has been released as the investigation is still open
