Driver Killed in Highway 154 Crash
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (March 31, 2021) – Sean McDonough, 39, died a week ago in a head-on collision on Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma.
The fatal crash happened about 3:55 a.m. on Thursday, March 25th, according to Noozhawk.
A second driver, Ernest Gilbert, 34, of Santa Barbara, suffered injuries in the collision, just east of Cachuma Lake Village.
Sean McDonough was driving a 2001 Toyota westbound on Highway 154 when for unknown reasons he veered across the double yellow lines and into the path of a 2017 Dodge driven by Gilbert on the eastbound side of the highway.

Additionally, paramedics and firefighters responded and found Gilbert trapped inside his vehicle. He was rushed by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment for major injuries. Meanwhile, Sean McDonough suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Investigators are piecing together evidence and will determine the cause of the crash.
