Sebastian Ruiz, 20, Seriously Injured in Crash on Highway 108/120 Near Oakdale
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (September 8, 2022) – A crash seriously injured Sebastian Ruiz on Highway 108/120 near Oakdale.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 20-year-old man as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Sebastian Ruiz was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado east on Highway 108/120 between Oakdale and Knights Ferry. At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet SUV was going west.
For an unknown reason, the SUV partially entered the eastbound lane directly into the path of the pickup. In the process, the car slammed head-on into the truck east of Lancaster Road.
2 Cars Collide
Four more men, ages 18 and 20, were riding the Silverado when it collided with the SUV. The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident occurred on September 7 at about 9:20 p.m.
CHP said Sebastian Ruiz ended up trapped inside the wreckage as a result of the crash. Firefighters rescued him and found that he sustained serious injuries following the wreck.
An air ambulance then flew him to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment. Helicopters airlifted three of his passengers to trauma centers with major injuries.
The fourth person riding with them and the driver of the SUV, a 17-year-old girl, survived the incident with minor injuries. Medical personnel took them to the Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale for further aid.
CHP forced the highway to shut down for hours after the accident. The cause of the Oakdale crash is still under investigation.
