Semi-Truck Overturns on I-215 Freeway in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (May 5, 2022) — A car struck a semi-truck causing it to overturn and crash into other vehicles early Thursday on the Interstate 215 Freeway, just north of 5th Street in San Bernardino.
The multi-vehicle crash happened in the southbound lanes of the I-215 about 3:51 a.m. on May 5th, according to the California Highway Patrol. The numbers one, three and four lanes became blocked by vehicles.
CHP officials reported the white Freightliner semi-truck loaded with cigarettes overturned onto its side when a gray Toyota Yaris crashed into it. A witness told authorities the driver in the Yaris was allegedly speeding and “swerving all over the road” before hitting the semi-truck. Other vehicles involved included a blue Toyota Highlander and a black sedan. They reportedly crashed into the overturned big rig truck.
Three people suffered minor injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported them to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further treatment.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash.
