Semi-Truck Crash in Redding on the I-5 Freeway and Hilltop Drive

REDDING, Calif. (May 7, 2025) — Major injuries were reported after a Redding crash involving three vehicles Tuesday night at the I-5 Freeway and Hilltop Drive.

Three-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Freeway

According to the California Highway Patrol, two people suffered moderate to major injuries in the collision late Tuesday, May 6th.

A man driving a Cadillac SUV was traveling on Hilltop Drive and reportedly went down the embankment at the overcrossing onto the Interstate 5 Freeway, the report said.

The SUV drove onto the I-5 from the embankment and collided with a semi truck that was pulling a tanker trailer. Upon impact, the truck overturned onto its side, police said. Meanwhile, a third vehicle sideswiped the semi-truck.

The Redding Police Department is heading up the investigation and working to determine if the driver of the Cadillac was driving under the influence.
