Semi-Truck Crash into Cars on I-205 Freeway in Tracy, Causing Major Injuries
TRACY, CA (Oct. 21, 2026) — A fiery crash involved a Tesla, a semi-truck and another vehicle Wednesday on the westbound Interstate 205 Freeway near Tracy, leaving at least one person trapped with major injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident report, the collision was reported at approximately 10:58 a.m. on October 21, 2026, on westbound I-205 near Corral Hollow Road in the Tracy area.
Tesla Hit by Semi-Truck in Crash on Interstate 205 Freeway
Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had broken down on the freeway and that a Tesla stopped behind it. The Tesla was reportedly struck by a semi-truck carrying a red cargo container. Another witness reported that three vehicles were involved in the collision.
According to the incident log, the Tesla caught fire, and at least one person was reported trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency responders attempted to reach the driver, who was initially reported to be unresponsive. The San Francisco Fire Department was notified, and additional towing services were requested.
A separate report indicated that the Tesla had been struck by the semi-truck after attempting to maneuver around the disabled vehicle. The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with all lanes initially reported blocked. Authorities gradually reopened lanes and the damaged vehicles were removed.

At 11:08 a.m., a Tesla was reported to have traveled approximately 70 feet down an embankment and caught fire. Another vehicle, described as a Toyota, also sustained major damage.
By 12:23 p.m., all lanes had been reported open. A brief closure was later scheduled to allow crews to recover a vehicle from the scene. The roadway was reported open again at 12:33 p.m.
At 12:48 p.m., the California Highway Patrol upgraded the incident classification from a collision with an ambulance responding to one involving major injuries.
