Semi-Truck, Honda Fit Crash on I-280 Freeway, US 101 in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (June 15, 2026) — A crash involving a semi-truck and a Honda SUV slowed traffic Monday afternoon on southbound Interstate 280 near the U.S. Highway 101 interchange in San Francisco, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports.
The collision was reported on June 15th, just after 12 p.m., on southbound I-280 just north of the Highway 101 connector. Initial reports indicated a semi-truck collided with a Honda Fit, later identified in dispatch logs as a silver Honda HR-V that sustained major damage.
Authorities said the crash blocked lanes two and three, creating traffic congestion through one of the Bay Area’s busiest freeway corridors. A CHP officer later reported the No. 3 lane remained blocked as crews worked to clear the scene.
The semi-truck came to rest on the right-hand shoulder, and officials indicated the truck driver was not injured. The Honda, while heavily damaged, was reportedly still drivable after the crash.
Tow crews were requested to remove the damaged Honda from the freeway, with Atlas Towing responding to the scene. By approximately 12:36 p.m., CHP reported the roadway had been cleared and traffic lanes reopened.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone in the Honda suffered injuries. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
