Semi-Truck in Fatal Live Oak Crash on Highway 99, Paseo Road

Fatal Crash Shuts Down Southbound Highway 99 in Sutter County
SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. (June 27, 2025) — A fatal multi-vehicle crash involving a sedan and a semi-truck shut down southbound Highway 99 just south of Paseo Road early Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred around 4:28 a.m. on June 27th, and involved a 2-door sedan and a semi-truck hauling approximately 30,000 pounds of cargo in a 40-foot trailer. CHP reports indicate the semi crossed through a fence during the crash, resulting in significant damage and debris scattered across the roadway.
Emergency crews responded quickly, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The crash caused major traffic disruptions. Southbound Highway 99 was shut down completely for several hours while Caltrans crews worked to clear the wreckage and tow the heavily damaged vehicles. Traffic was diverted at Larkin Road during the closure. All lanes reopened by 7:45 a.m.
It is currently unknown what led to the collision, and CHP is continuing to investigate the cause. No other injuries were reported.
