Seth Leahey Victim in DUI Crash, James McCarthy III Arrested
Hyampom, Trinity County- According to the California Highway Patrol, Seth Leahey, 29, of Hyampom, has been identified as the victim fatally injured in a DUI crash Tuesday evening.
The accident which allegedly involved a single vehicle took place at 7:38 p.m. on Lower South Fork Road.
The driver of a passenger vehicle, James McCarthy III, 69, lost control of the car and crashed for unknown reasons causing fatal injuries to his passenger, Seth Leahey.
Meanwhile, James McCarthy was seriously injured and flown to Mercy Medical.
After tests were taken it was determined that McCarthy was indeed under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He will face significant charges including DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
No further details have been released at this time.
