CERES, California — Two separate traffic collisions resulted in multiple parties injuried on Highway 99 Monday afternoon, according to an article by Modbee.
The first accident happened on the southbound of the highway at Whitmore Avenue around 12:10 p.m. As per officials, a Caltrans crew was removing a ramp closure after completing landscape work along the highway when the driver allegedly made an unsafe lane change and slowed, and then was rear-ended by a big rig and overturned.
The initial collision resulted in two women suffering in minor injuries. Both victims’ identities were not released pending next of kin notification.
Further, the second accident happened at Mitchell Road offramp. As per the article, the crash involving the Ceres Fire Department ladder truck occurred when the Ceres crew, not needed at the Highway 99 crash scene, took the Mitchell Road offramp because the Whitmore exit was closed. Because of congestion, the firetruck was stopped in traffic about halfway down the offramp stretch.
A Nissan Altima was diligently stopped behind the truck, when a Honda Civic LX coming down the offramp failed to note the congestion, and rear-ended the Altima, pushing it into the truck.
The Nissan driver was evaluated by an American Medical Response ambulance crew and taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Further investigation on the separate collision is ongoing.
