Shanilka Mapatuna Killed, Alazar Omari Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Crash

RIVERSIDE (July 16, 2018) – A man killed after an alleged wrong-way crash on the 60 Freeway Sunday has been identified as Shanilka Mapatuna, according to Riverside County News Source and My News LA.

Riverside County Coroner’s Office said the 23-year-old Moreno Valley resident was a victim of the deadly wreck which occurred at about 3:30 a.m. near Market Street.

As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old Ontario woman was seen allegedly speeding west in the eastbound lanes of the 60 Freeway at Frederick Street in Moreno Valley.

The woman in the 2002 Ford Mustang continued traveling about seven miles into Riverside at a high rate of speed in the fast lane. A few moments later, she collided head-on with a black Dodge Caravan.

The 23-year-old Fontana man driving the Caravan, Alazar Omari, and the wrong-way driver were both transported to Riverside Community Hospital with major injuries.

Meanwhile, the name of the suspect was not disclosed. The incident remains under investigation.
