Shannon Bigley, 33, Fatally Injured by Heavy Machinery at Homeless Camp
DATE OF INCIDENT: Wednesday, August 1st
August 30, 2018- According to KCRA News, a deadly accident left a homeless woman died after she was impaled by a heavy piece of machinery attempting to clear out a homeless camp back on the first of the month.
The report has indicated that a woman identified as Shannon Marie Bigley, 33, had been sleeping in or under a cardboard box before being killed.
Per KCRA News, Bigley was originally a resident of Oregon who was last known to reside in Stockton before relocating at the homeless encampment in Modesto.
California Highway Patrol is the agency currently investigating the incident as they have ruled out the possibility of this incident being a homicide, however, there are discussions ongoing that the workers handling the clear out lacked the necessary “safety equipment and training” ultimately leading to Bigley’s death.
As of Wednesday, August 29th, the homeless camp still stands while the investigation remains open which will determine whether or not there was willful neglect and carelessness on the part of the company handling the clear out.
**All of us at Johnson Attorneys Group offer our sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Shannon Bigley who passed away in this tragic accident.
