2 Killed in Collision at Citrus and Los Cedros Avenue
Fontana, CA (April 8, 2022) – Shannon Flores, and Rodrigo Resendez died following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Citrus and Los Cedros Avenue.
The Fontana Herald News reported two vehicles collided at the intersection in Fontana. Officials said the horrible crash took place on April 7, Thursday.
Preliminary investigation revealed an older Honda was making a left turn from northbound Citrus onto Los Cedros. In the process, the Honda drove into the path of a Chevy truck heading south on Citrus.
The force from the impact pushed the Honda into a brick wall on the southwest corner of Citrus and Los Cedros.
Shortly after 1:47 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties found at the location. According to the article published online, one passenger in the Honda instantly died at the scene. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department identified the deceased as 51-year-old Shannon Flores, of San Bernardino.
Meanwhile, a second passenger was rushed to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, where he later sadly died. 53-year-old Rodrigo Resendez passed away around 2:31 a.m.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Accident in Fontana, April 7
Detectives later discovered the Honda driver was intoxicated at the time of the unfortunate event. Police arrested the DUI suspect and booked them into West Valley Detention Center on vehicular manslaughter charges.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
