Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident is Identified
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (October 25, 2021) — Shareen Ponce, 48, died in a pedestrian accident early Thursday morning on the Interstate 805 Freeway.
The deadly crash happened about 3:59 a.m. on Oct. 21st, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
A southbound vehicle struck Shareen Ponce as she reportedly ran into traffic lanes. She was running from the right shoulder of the freeway, just north of Market Street, the report said.
Additionally, officials stated the car found at the scene was a Toyota Corolla.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident 805 Freeway
Emergency medical workers arrived on scene just after 4 a.m. First responders provided medial aid to the woman found lying in the middle of the freeway.
However, despite their efforts, Shareen Annette Ponce died at the scene, the coroner said. Meanwhile, authorities say the driver in the Toyota stopped and cooperated with police. The person suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Meanwhile, investigators continue to piece together what happened and will determine fault for the crash.
