Woman, 84, Killed, 4 Injured in Major Crash on Old Woman Springs Road
YUCCA VALLEY — Sharon Meler, 84, of Yucca Valley, has died and three members of another family were critically injured in a Memorial Day collision involving three motorists on Old Woman Springs Road.
The collision took place about 3:10 p.m. on Monday at Old Woman Springs Road and Terra Vista Road.
The driver of a Ford F-150 truck was heading north on Old Woman Springs Road when they rear-ended Meler’s Subaru Impreza as she was stopped waiting to turn left at the intersection. Upon impact, the Subaru was pushed forward into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound white Cadillac CTS.
The collision between Meler’s Subaru and the Cadillac caused major injuries to her as well as the man, woman and child in the Cadillac.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded and rushed all four people to hospitals. They exticated the man driving the Cadillac using the Jaws of Life before taking him to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the two women and child were also taken to a trauma center at Desert Regional Medical Center.
Meler unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and died at 5:25 p.m. at the hospital., the Riverside County coroner said.
