4 Injured in Shasta County Crash on Highway 44 Near Deschutes Road
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (August 27, 2021) – Several were injured after a car crash on Highway 44 near Deschutes Road in Shasta County.
According to an article published by the Record Searchlight, the accident took place on Monday. Officers reported the wreck on August 23 at around 5:45 p.m.
The incident began when a 2013 Kia was going west on Highway 44, just west of Deschutes Road, in Shasta County. At the same time, a 2015 Toyota and a 2013 Honda were traveling east.
For an unknown reason, the car crossed over the double yellow line went into oncoming traffic. The California Highway Patrol said the Kia then slammed into the Toyota.
Multiple Cars Collide Near Redding
The Kia spun out of control, collided with the Honda and ended up split in half. A 2017 Subaru driving behind the Honda failed to avoid the collision and obtained minor damage.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene, east of Redding. They found a total of four people hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took the operator of the Kia and the driver of the Honda to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The motorists in the Toyota and the Subaru survived with minor injuries. Officials did not release the names of all the wounded patients and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 44 near Deschutes Road to shut down for hours following the crash. The cause of the Shasta County collision is still under investigation.
