At Least 1 Killed in Head-On Collision Near Buckhorn Summit
Shasta County, CA (August 18, 2022) – A deadly traffic accident occurred Thursday evening on Sate Route Highway 299, the ABC7 News reported.
Our sources indicated a small sedan and a semi truck crashed head-on on SR-299 near the Buckhorn Summit area. The force from the impact caused the big rig to catch fire. Officials mentioned the fire spread to nearby vegetation.
Deadly Car Accident on Highway 299 in Shasta County
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. After the evaluation, authorities sadly confirmed one person dead in the accident. The identity of the fatal victim remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Police shut down the eastbound lanes of the highway at Buckhorn Summit, and the westbound lanes at Rock Creek Road. Detectives stayed at the scene the whole night. The continue to work at this time to determine exactly how and why the deadly crash happened on Highway 299 in Shasta County.
