SHERIDAN, California (August 15, 2016) — A woman is dead and a second person suffered major injuries following a head-on collision involving three vehicles on Highway 65 near Riosa Road in Placer County, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 6:19 a.m. this morning between a white Ford F-150 pickup truck pulling a trailer, a white Honda or Oldsmobile and a light blue Lexus. One of the white vehicles was blocking lanes following the crash. Police say one driver crossed over into oncoming traffic and caused the crash. Two people were trapped in a vehicle. Firefighters extricated them both, but the woman died of her injuries. The second person was hospitalized with major injuries.
Police issued a SigAlert about 7:22 a.m. due to multiple lanes in both directions being blocked and they were concerned about a second collision happening so traffic was diverted off at Riosa Road.
