Man Killed in Crash on West Ninth Street ID’d
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2023) – Silverio Arturo Vasquez, Jr., 64, of Los Angeles, was identified as the driver who died in a collision with a big rig truck on West Ninth Street in Long Beach.
The two-vehicle traffic accident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11th at the intersection of Anaheim Street and West Ninth Street, according to the Long Beach Post.
Silverio Arturo Vasquez was driving a 2009 Lexus ES350 northbound on West Ninth Street.
Meanwhile, a driver in a 2014 Volvo semi-truck was heading southbound on the same street.
Police believe that Vasquez made an unsafe turn towards westbound Anaheim Street and crashed head-on with the truck. Paramedics responded, but the Los Angeles man died at the scene.
The 30-year-old Santa Ana man driving the truck stopped and cooperated with police and the investigation.
Authorities are investigating the crash and believe that speed is a contributing factor in this collision, according to the report.
