Suspect Arrested for Fatal Crash at Mariposa Avenue and Sixth Street
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 1, 2025) — Fedir Iatsenko, 20, has been arrested as a suspect in a hit-and-run crash last week that killed a skateboard rider, Oscar Lopez, 22, in Koreatown.
The deadly collision occurred around 6 a.m. on Thursday, March 27th at Mariposa Avenue and Sixth Street in Los Angeles, according to KTLA 5 News.
Authorities determined the 20-year-old man was driving a 2017 Ford Transit van northbound on Catalina Avenue. He made a left-hand turn onto Sixth Street and struck the victim riding a skateboard. The suspect fled without stopping to help the young man.
A trail of debris including car parts was left behind and the victim was thrown onto a sidewalk where he was left to die. The family of Oscar Lopez told investigators he was heading to work at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, Fedir Iatsenko eluded capture for several days until Sunday he was finally located. He was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Tuesday, April 1st.
The case remains under investigation.
