2 Injured in Smith River Crash on Highway 101 at Rowdy Creek Road
DEL NORTE COUNTY, CA (June 1, 2021) – Two were hospitalized after a car crash at Highway 101 and Rowdy Creek Road in Smith River.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the wreck on Tuesday afternoon. According to their dispatch team, officers reported the accident shortly after 4 p.m.
The incident log said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the Smith River area. They crashed on Highway 101 at Rowdy Creek Road.
Juveniles Victim in Car Collision Near School
CHP described the cars involved as a gray Toyota Prius and a silver Toyota SUV. The Prius slammed into a telephone pole and ended up with front-end damage upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene near the Smith River Elementary School. They found two juveniles hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon took the young patients to the Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Officials did not disclose their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP closed Highway 101 at Rowdy Creek Road following the wreck. Authorities are still determining the cause of the Smith River crash.
