1 Injured in Smith River Hit-and-Run Crash on North Indian Road
SMITH RIVER, CA (January 11, 2022) – A juvenile was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Indian Road in Smith River.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident last week on Friday evening. Officers reported the wreck on January 7 shortly after 6 p.m.
CHP said a Chevrolet Cobalt and another vehicle collided for an unknown reason. The two crashed at 350 North Indian Road near Highway 101 in Smith River.
The dispatch added that the Chevrolet obtained front-end damage upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene, just north of the Lucky 7 Casino and Hotel.
2 Cars Collide Near Hotel
They found a juvenile inside one of the cars involved hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel provided aid to the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the wreck.
The report did not release the condition of the wounded patient at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the other vehicle did not stop to help and then fled on foot.
They described the car as a blue early to mid 2000s Ford sedan. The abandoned sedan lost its front bumper including the fog light assembly following the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of Indian Road to shut down after the collision. The cause of the Smith River hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
