2 Killed in 91 Freeway Crash at Atlantic Avenue
LONG BEACH, Calif. (July 27, 2021) – Sole Mitchell-Hall, 21, of Palmdale, died Sunday in a head-on crash on the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Long Beach.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner also identified Aaron Marlowe, 30, of Hemet, as the second driver killed in the collision.
The crash occurred about 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 25th at Atlantic Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sole Mitchell-Hall, 21, of Palmdale, was allegedly speeding between 70 mph and 85 mph as she traveled in the wrong direction of the eastbound carpool lane. Meanwhile, the Palmdale woman’s 2016 Honda eventually collided head-on with an eastbound 2016 Chrysler driven by Aaron Marlowe, according to investigators.

Sadly, both women suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Just minutes prior to the fatal crash, several witnesses alerted authorities about the wrong-way driver. Police received multiple calls to 911 around 5:20 a.m. They believe the Honda was traveling at speeds up to 90 mph when it was first spotted on the Riverside (91) Freeway near State College Boulevard in Anaheim.
Police issued a SigAlert about 5:47 a.m. following the crash. They also closed down the eastbound 91 Freeway, just west of Atlantic Boulevard.
