Bicyclist Killed By Volvo on 405 Freeway in Carson
CARSON, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2023) – Solis Anthony, 35, died in a car accident while riding a bicycle early Sunday morning on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Carson.
The crash occurred at around 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 15th in the southbound lanes of the freeway at the Wilmington Avenue off ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities reported the man was riding his bike on the right shoulder of the freeway. Apparently, he rode the bicycle into the path of a driver in a 2014 Volvo, police said.
The Volvo driver attempted to stop, but couldn’t and struck the bicyclist and knocked him off it and down into the roadway.
Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Meanwhile, Solis Anthony was later identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Finally, witnesses to the collision may contact the CHP’s South Los Angeles-area office. They can be reached at 424-551-4000.
