
2 Injured in Collision Near Mesa School Road
Somis, CA (May 9, 2023) – Two people suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 118 Tuesday afternoon, May 9.
According to KVTA News, a semi truck carrying dog food collided with a black four-door sedan near Mesa School Road west of Somis. Earlier reports indicated the crash took place at about 5:30 p.m.

The article published online mentioned the force from the impact caused fire to erupt. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found the driver of the sedan trapped in the fiery wreckage. Firefighters worked extensively to extricate the victim and extinguish the flames. After the driver was freed, a Copter 6 airlifted them to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries.
Authorities added the truck driver sustained minor injuries in the collision. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the second victim.
Per local news source, police shut down the highway between La Vista and Walnut to give way to the investigation process. Detectives continue to work at this time to determine exactly how and why the traffic crash happened on Highway 118 in Somis.
