Semi Truck Crash on Highway 118 and Balcom Canyon Road
SOMIS (April 6, 2017)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a collision involving a big rig took place Thursday morning at or near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue (Highway 118) and Balcom Canyon Road.
At 9:05 a.m., a silver Kia Forte EX sedan and a semi-truck were involved in a crash in which the semi t-boned the Kia, whose license plate read 6RXZ429.
Per CHP, the Ventura County Fire Department arrived at the scene along with paramedics.
The Kia driver who was not identified was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
Westbound traffic lanes were temporarily blocked while hazardous material covered the road which was eventually swept off the road by a sweeper within an hour of the collision.
No further details were announced as the investigation remains ongoing as to what exactly transpired to determine the at-fault party.
