SONOMA COUNTY, California (July 18, 2017) — Two people were hospitalized with major injuries early Tuesday morning after a car overturned on the northbound U.S. 101 Freeway, at Asti Store Road and Simmons Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 5:26 a.m. this morning in the No. 2 lane when the vehicle hit the shoulder and rolled over. The driver and passenger were trapped in the blue compact car until firefighters arrived and extricated them. They were transported to Memorial hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The cause of the crash and liability is under investigation. While it appears there were no other vehicles involved in this collision, it’s important that police investigate whether or not a dangerous condition or mechanical problem may have contributed.
