1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Crash at Highway 1 and Valley Ford Road
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and seriously injured two others along Highway 1 in rural Sonoma County.
According to The Mercury News and FOX 40 News, the tragic accident occurred late Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:31 p.m.
The incident happened on April 10 when two pickup trucks collided head-on for an unknown reason. They crashed on Highway 1 at Valley Ford Road in Sonoma County.
The California Highway Patrol said one of the cars involved then caught fire upon impact. At least one occupant became trapped inside the burning vehicle.
Fiery Head-On Collision in Sonoma County
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene, west of Bloomfield. They confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision.
Two other people sustained injuries following the crash. Two air ambulances arrived and took one patient to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced Highway 1 to shut down overnight after the crash.
The cause of the fatal collision is still under investigation.
