6 Injured in Sonoma County Crash on Highway 1 Near Ocean Cove
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (March 25, 2023) – Several were hospitalized after a crash on Highway 1 near an Ocean Cove restaurant in Sonoma County.
According to an article published by The Press Democrat, the accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on March 25 between Timber Cove and The Sea Ranch.
The incident happened when two cars collided head-on for an unknown reason in Sonoma County. The vehicles crashed on Highway 1, a few hundred feet north of the Ocean Cove Bar and Grill.
The Timber Cove Fire said one car carrying a family of five went over the side of the highway upon impact. The vehicle plunged about 15 feet down the embankment.
2 Cars Collide
The other car with a sole occupant came to a rest on its side. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and freed all the people involved from the wreckage.
All six patients ended up hurt as a result of the collision. A helicopter flew one of them to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Three ambulances rushed the other five victims to the same hospital for further aid. The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, officers forced Highway 1 to shut down in both directions for about two hours near Ocean Cove following the wreck. The cause of the Sonoma County crash is still under investigation.
