2 Injured in Sonoma County Hit-and-Run on Highway 12 Near Irwin Lane
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (June 26, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash injured two people near Highway 12 and Irwin Lane in Sonoma County.
According to The Press Democrat and KRON 4 News, the accident took place on Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:42 p.m.
The incident happened on June 24 when a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Highway 12 in Sonoma County. At the same time, a 2021 Toyota Prius as traveling in front.
The California Highway Patrol said the speeding driver then struck the back of the Toyota. The impact mangled the rear of the Prius, including its tires.
Speeding Driver Hits Another Car, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the two occupants of the Toyota left wounded as a result of the collision.
The male driver of the Prius and his passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash. Medical personnel took them to the Kaiser Santa Rosa Medical Center and Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The names of the victims and their condition at this time were not released. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the suspect did not stop to render aid and fled southbound on Llano Road.
They described the car involved as a gray, four-door Acura sedan, possibly a 2009 or 2010 TSX model. The Acura obtained major front-end damage after hitting the other vehicle.
Officers forced a portion of Highway 12 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The Sonoma County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
