Sophia Hutchins Killed in Malibu ATV Crash on Decker Edison Road

MALIBU, Calif. (July 5, 2025) — Sophia Hutchins, 29, died Wednesday in a Malibu crash after her ATV was rear-ended on Decker Edison Road and it went over a cliff below, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 29-year-old woman was driving a black/blue 2013 Polaris RGR-800 Crew Side-by-Side ATV.

The vehicle was allegedly rear-ended a driver in a gray 2016 Mazda 6 due to unknown circumstances. Authorities stated that both vehicles were traveling southbound on Decker Edison Road. Following the impact, the ATV veered off the roadway and plunged 350 feet down a cliff.

The incident was first reported shortly before 10:20 a.m. on July 2nd, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. Police requested a SIG Alert due to the severity of the crash. CHP later updated the situation to a traffic advisory, confirming a full road closure in effect as investigators work the scene.

Meanwhile, the 51-year-old woman driving the Mazda and her passenger were both uninjured.

The young woman who died was reportedly a friend and former manager of media personality Caitlyn Jenner. Sophia Hutchins was the
former CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation. She also appeared on Caitlyn Jenner’s reality show ”I Am Cait.”
