3 Injured in Sorrento Valley Crash on Mira Mesa Boulevard Near Interstate 805
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 29, 2023) – Several were injured after a DUI crash on Mira Mesa Boulevard in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune and ABC 10 News, the accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck on May 28 shortly before 9 p.m.
The incident happened when a 2014 Ford Transit van was traveling east in westbound lanes of Mira Mesa Boulevard in Sorrento Valley. At the same time, a 2017 Honda Civic was going west.
Police said the van then slammed head-on into the other car. The two crashed in the 5300 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard near the Interstate 805.
DUI Driver its Another Car
The passenger of the Civic, a 44-year-old woman, sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. Her injuries included a punctured liver, stomach bleeding and multiple rib fractures.
The 42-year-old man driving the sedan obtained minor abrasions to his arms and complained of pain in his right hip and back. Paramedics rushed both patients to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Ford, a 26-year-old woman, survived with internal injuries. Police determined that she was under the influence when she hit the victims.
They soon arrested the motorist on suspicion of felony DUI. Meanwhile, officers forced westbound Mira Mesa Boulevard to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Sorrento Valley crash is still under investigation.
