At Least 1 Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on 5 Freeway

December 25, 2018 – At least one person was injured following a suspected DUI collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway Monday evening, according to NBC News.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., two vehicles collided on the southbound lanes of the I-5 off-ramp to Coronado Avenue in Imperial Beach.
Major Injury Car Accident Monday in South Bay
First responders found one person trapped in an overturned car. Primary reports indicated it took about 20 minutes for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department to extricate the trapped victim. The extents of the victim’s injuries were unknown at this time, but it was considered to be major, officials said.
Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol officers believed alcohol was involved in the crash. The name of the DUI driver, and his whereabouts at this time remained unclear.
