Tiffany Ching, 49, of Walnut Fatal Car Accident
SOUTH EL MONTE, California (July 21, 2017) — A 49-year-old woman identified as Tiffany Ching was killed Thursday afternoon when her BMW collided with a disabled big rig truck on the Pomona 60 Freeway, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The crash took place in the westbound lanes near Santa Anita Avenue about 1:40 p.m. yesterday.
60 Pomona Freeway Crash Investigation
Police investigating the collision stated the BMW swerved to the right towards the off ramp when it struck the right rear corner of a 2013 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer truck. The car continued westbound and hit the truck a second time, but came to a rest near the off ramp. The truck had been stopped on the shoulder after a mechanical breakdown.
It’s unclear whether the truck was jutting out into traffic lanes or if it was completely off the roadway when the collision occurred.
Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors, but initial results indicate that was not the case. A SigAlert was issued due to the collision.
