2 Killed in South El Monte Truck Accident on 60 Freeway Sunday
SOUTH EL MONTE (September 2, 2018) – Two were killed after a traffic collision involving a big rig on the 60 Freeway Sunday morning, according to KTLA and San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
The accident was reported just before 4:30 a.m. on the 60 freeway at Peck Road.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason a semi-truck carrying cantaloupes rear ended a BMW that was stopped on the eastbound 60 Freeway.

The operator of the truck then lost control of the tractor-trailer which then fell from the freeway overpass and onto Peck Road below.
The sedan spun and ended up facing west in the eastbound shoulder of the freeway.
CHP affirmed that the drivers of both vehicles died at the scene. Their names have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, officials believed that the person operating the big rig possibly tried to slow down or stop to avoid colliding with the BMW but failed and crashed into the car. The incident remains under investigation.
We offer our prayers and most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the deceased parties during such a difficult time.

The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the big rig and the sedan, such as point of impact, their final resting positions, skid marks, and gouge marks.
