Pedestrian Killed in South Los Angeles, Driver Flees
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 12, 2021) — A fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened Wednesday night at Broadway and 54th Street in South Los Angeles.

A man in his 50s was crossing Broadway in a marked crosswalk, but against a “Don’t Walk” signal. An oncoming northbound tow truck struck him and dragged his body some 180 feet. Surveillance video captured the deadly crash and helped authorities with a vehicle description.
The pedestrian accident on Broadway happened about 10:03 p.m. on August 11th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A driver in a light-colored `Wrecker Tow Truck’ struck the victim at the South LA intersection and fled northbound on Broadway without stopping to help the person. Sadly, the pedestrian died at the scene of the collision.
Police are now investigating the crash and searching for the suspect. However, there is a standing reward of up to $50,000 is available from the city of Los Angeles for information that solves a fatal hit and run.
There is no further information about the suspect at this time.
Meanwhile, authorities will release the name of the victim after relatives are notified.
