Bicyclist Killed in South Los Angeles Hit-and-Run at Florence Avenue and Flower Street
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (May 12, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash critically injured a bicyclist at Florence Avenue and Flower Street in South Los Angeles.
The incident began when a maroon Kia Optima was going east on Florence Avenue in South Los Angeles. At the same time, a man riding a bicycle was crossing westbound on Flower Street.
Police said the driver of the Kia made an unsafe right turn onto Flower for an unknown reason. In the process, the car then struck the bicyclist in the crosswalk.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim left lying on the ground. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed him to a local hospital and listed him in critical condition. The name of the wounded rider was not released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the cyclist and fled southbound on Flower Street. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
