2 Killed in South Los Angeles Crash on Southbound 110 Freeway at Slauson Avenue

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 1, 2021) – Two were killed after a DUI crash on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

According to the KTLA News and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the incident at about 4:40 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said a 2014 Hyundai Elantra and a 2017 Buick Regal collided on the southbound 110 Freeway. They crashed at Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles.

DUI Driver Hits An0ther Car

The 43-year-old Los Angeles man driving the Elantra and his passenger, a 40-year-old Los Angeles woman, died at the scene. Their names remain unreleased pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Buick was under the influence of alcohol when he struck the victim car. They soon arrested him for DUI.

Officers forced the southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway to shut down for hours following the wreck. The fatal South Los Angeles crash is still under investigation.
