Man, 33, Killed in South Los Angeles Hit-and-Run at 88th Place and Main Street
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (February 24, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian at 88th Place and Main Street in South Los Angeles.
The incident began when a Ford pickup truck was driving west on East 88th Place. At the same time, a Toyota Camry was going north on Main Street in the Broadway-Manchester neighborhood.
Police said the Toyota then collided for an unknown reason with the Ford. The pickup went off the road and ultimately struck a male pedestrian and a parked Nissan Sentra.
Driver Slams Into Another Car, Hits Pedestrian
Firefighters along with the paramedics then responded and found the 33-year-old man left lying on the ground as a result of the crash. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that three male occupants of the truck fled on foot following the collision.
One of them was wearing a yellow shirt with jeans and carrying a DeWalt toolbox. Another was last seen in a green vest and running toward an alley on Broadway toward 9oth Street.
The motorist in the Camry stopped and stayed at the site. Officials forced 88th Place and Main Street to close after the South Los Angeles hit-and-run crash.
