1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in South Pasadena Pedestrian Crash at Marengo and Maple
SOUTH PASADENA, CA (July 29, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian and seriously injured two others at Marengo Avenue and Maple Street in South Pasadena.
According to an article published by the Pasadena Star-News, the tragic accident took place on Wednesday night. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The incident happened on July 27 when a male pedestrian and two women were crossing a South Pasadena intersection.
At the same time, a Toyota Sienna was going north on Marengo Avenue approaching Maple Street. The van entered the intersection and then failed to stop at the stop sign for an unknown reason.
Driver Runs Stop Sign, Hits Victims
Police said the Toyota struck the victims in the process. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found all three pedestrians hurt.
The patients ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to the hospital, where the man soon died.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police added that the driver of the van stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victims.
Officers forced Marengo to shut down between Huntington Drive and Alhambra Road for several hours following the incident.
The cause of the fatal South Pasadena pedestrian crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 626-403-7270.
